Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

The staff was mostly teenagers who were engaged with customers or appropriate banter with each other. The service was good, custard and what we ordered was all to be expected. Bathroom was acceptable but did not feel private (just a door that opens into main part of the business). Parking was decent and other customers were consistently coming in for pick up or dine in.

Being from Wisconsin the frozen custard was okay. The flavor was good, but the texture was a little off, at least as to what I am used to and expected. Also the lobby area seemed to have an order that just didn’t seem good.

If you grew up eating Italian ices, especially in those little white cups, you squeeze while eating in NYC. (picture shown) It didn't get any better than that!!! But trust and believe, this is a 10 out of 10 place for you to enjoy and / or remember the good ole days. All flavors!! Check them out when you feel like a cool treat!! New London Ct is on the map with this one!!! 💯 *10/19/25* ... I'm so sad for my city and surrounding cites. This delightful part of New London and surrounding cities has closed its doors permanently. They did let us know weeks ago. In the summer it was so nice to see the inside and outside tables filled with family and friends talking ,laughing and enjoying cold treats. This is the best frozen custard in the area! If you've never tried frozencustard, it's creamier, thicker, and better than soft-serve in every way! Mix it with some Italian ice, and you're in heaven. The staff was friendly and let us try some samples of different flavors. I Love this place, and will drive out of my way just to visit.

Must TRY!! Some of the BEST italian ice ive had!! And mixed with the custard ... i mean come on couldnt have a better combo! So delicious and super friendly staff! And portions are good. And pricing is fair!
