Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard

Stopped by for a sweet treat. I came in for a gelati, which is a combination of Italian ice and custard. You are able to sample the Italian ice, but you can NOT sample the custard. There were Italian ice flavors up front and some in the back. As for custard, there were many flavors available: chocolate, vanilla, twist (chocolate & vanilla), coffee, salted caramel, pistachio, strawberry banana, strawberry, black raspberry, and cotton candy. It was a shame I was not able to sample the custard. I wanted to try something new, but I do not want to order something I don't like. In addition, there are topping options. The topping I viewed are peanuts, nilla wafers, chocolate chips, m&m, rainbow sprinkle, and chocolate sprinkle.

My gelati was delicious and service was fast and courteous. When I was paying for my order, I accidentally knocked over my gelati and I felt terrible. The young lady made me another one without making me feel bad at all. We will be back!

Be careful if you go to this business then just happen to go, "Hey, that place next door looks nice, let's pop in there too!" as the owners reportedly think so little of someone DARING to patronize someone other than them in conjunction with a visit to their plaza by being towed. The owner's attitudes after reportedly doing this put Amy's Kitchen of Kitchen Nightmares to shame! Oh, and their prices are outrageous. Can do much better pretty much anywhere.

IM HERE RIGHT NOW CLOSED AT 8:00!! Edit: Lying is not a good look! If you lost power can you explain why I saw the light on in the back room? And when my wife was calling and leaving a voicemail the light went off? No sign on the door? Facebook message about being closed? Cant find anything about a Vernon power outage? Nothing? I was there at 8:05 and never saw any lights turn back on at Rita’s! That’s when I drove to west Hartford and got better service. I will go to that Rita’s from now on!

Great service and great tasting frozen custard and ice, but it seems that portion size on the custard could have been bigger even for a specialty treat.
