River's End Restaurant & Inn

My wife and I did a one day getaway. And it was the most romantic, peaceful, serene and high end dining experience for our 24 hour vacation. The lodge is perfect for a couple that wants to relax, enjoy the ocean breeze. You truly do get to see where the river meets the ocean. The restaurant was truly one of our favorite food experiences in Northern California. The quality of the seafood is simply spectacular and the intimate setting is a perfect setting for you to enjoy and spend time with your significant other. I hope to come back one day in the future.

The accommodations are modest, but the stay is fantastic. We stayed in Pearl (Cabin 3), and the view was outstanding. The bird activity at sunrise is unmatched - we could see bald eagles in the surrounding trees! The location is somewhat remote, which was what I was looking for to be able to unplug and have some quiet time. Easy to check-in, easy to locate and park -- owners made the whole stay easy. And, if you stay here, you HAVE to eat at the restaurant. We will certainly pass this along to friends as a recommendation and we will likely be back!

We celebrated our 32nd anniversary by staying in the Headlands House at River's End Restaurant & Inn. What a beautiful place! The weather was perfect for mid January with a temperature of about 65 degrees and warm on the deck over looking the river and ocean. We were able to check-in early at 1:00pm and enjoyed wine and a charcuterie board on the deck. Our only regret is that we booked on a Thursday night and their restaurant is closed Wed-Thu. We considered changing to Friday, but they require a two night minimum on the weekend. I called and spoke with Bert Rangel, proprietor and he offered to waive the two night minimum, but my wife worked on Saturday (we live close in Santa Rosa), so we stayed Thursday. Absolutely the most romantic get away for me and my partner! The room view was fantastic, watching the sunset took our breath away. The bed was comfortable and cozy along with the gas fireplace stove. Loved the little refrigerator, came in handy for our food we brought to take hiking. Dinner in the restaurant was outstanding and unique. Wait staff very attentive but not overbearing. The view again was stunning! Would highly recommend and I know we will definitely return!

Stayed 2 nights in the Headlands House. Absolutely incredible place with Great views of river and ocean. We saw two bald eagles flying around both days. We also ate dinner at the restaurant. Elk rare was great, girlfriends loved the Passat and prawns, but the duck confit eggs were were the best thing we had. Would and will stay and eat here again.
