Hadn't heard about this hidden gem until a family member from Austin came to the RGV and told me about it through her friend channels. Wait was not long, food came out fast and very delicious. It was a party of three and we each ordered different chilaquiles to get a taste of the variety. The food was very flavorful and tasted homemade as if "la jefa" was back their running her culinary magic. I ordered a michelada and it tasted basic but the presentation was great. If they flared up the flavor of the miche mix a bit it would pair perfectly with their dishes. My wife loved the mimosas and the various options. I gave the service 4 stars because our server seemed rushed and a bit bothered to serve. It really didn't bother us because everything else was perfect. We will definitely be coming b
Brownsville is my hometown, and I only get to visit about once a year. When I’m in town, we normally stick to the same breakfast spots I grew up with — all Mexican, all nostalgic. But on this trip we woke up later than usual, figured our regular spot had stopped serving breakfast, and decided to look for brunch. I’ll be honest… I was skeptical when I saw The Rooster was in a shopping center. BUT I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! The space is beautiful, the drinks were phenomenal, and the food was delicious — elevated yet still familiar. It felt like something new without losing the comfort of home. Highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back on my next visit!
Y’all if you have social anxiety do NOT come here, I came in my pjs because they said they had curbside online when I paid, and then was made to walk across a full dining room to get my order where I showed them my order. Which was obviously a personal order not DoorDash or Uber eats, the person working there refused to even acknowledge me or greet me and proceeded to look at me like I was an alien and put 5 staples in my bag for my own food 😭. I could have excuse any of this is the food was good but they somehow managed to undercook my pancakes and the potato and chorizo taco was soggy from how much oil was on it. If you’re looking for an aesthetic place to take pictures at then go, but if you’re looking for good food or service this is not that.
We have been here 3 times and the food is pretty decent. I love the matcha latte and the chicken breast with cilantro sauce was really good! For me the portion was good and I was satisfied, but my husband thought the portion was a little small. The last time we were there they messed up on one of the omelettes and brought our friend a different one, but they made up for it and the staff was SUPER kind and even gave us a complimentary drink. I would recommend this place and it is very clean too. Sometimes it gets full and you have to wait, but worth it!
3•22•25 so I gave it a try to see they hype of this place. Abt 11ish got sat abt 12 noon. Anyways, I ordered breakfast, so I ordered the chorizo migas, and it was meh! To watery not to mention too much cheese which empowered the whole dish so you couldn't taste any of the chorizo just cheese every bite was cheese. And they should have been a bit dried, not moist, so I wasn't a fan of this dish. Hubby ordered the Belgium waffle w bacon bits inside that was alright. Overall, the place is nice yet a bit too pricey. Is it worth the wait? For me, no. Will go when it slows down it gets packed and possibly overwhelming for the waitresses and waiters. It's got a good ambient but like I said food needs improvement. Well, at least that dish I ate, you can see the pics. So your call if you would like
