Ruby's Diner

Came in on a Saturday morning after Cars and Coffee. Restaurant had a few open booths and some tables. We were seated in the back corner away from the main restaurant. We’re Latin, and most of the customers were white, so it felt like they were seating us in a different area due to our race. I asked to get moved to a booth so we could fit better and they did. Ordered an order of beignets and they were not cooked. You can see details in the picture. My wife and son ordered cinnamon French toast, and they were dry. They describes it as old bread with egg coating. The eggs were inedible. My other son got chicken strips and they were so over cooked that he didn’t eat it. The waiter visited our table 3 times. We’ve visited many times, but I always forget to share a review. Ruby’s is a chain restaurant, and even though I haven’t tried other locations, I really enjoy the burgers here—they’re unique and delicious. If you’re not a fan of fries, you can switch to another side. The service is friendly, and the staff checks in from time to time. The location is great too, right inside the outlet, so there’s always a steady flow of customers.

We had a wonderful experience at Ruby’s Diner! Our family gathered for a small reunion on Wednesday night in the Tiki Room, and everything was perfect. The lady who served us was absolutely excellent — attentive, kind, and made us feel so well taken care of the entire evening. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere created the perfect backdrop for our family time together. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs!). Highly recommend Ruby’s Diner for anyone looking for great service and a warm, memorable dining experience.

Tonight’s experience was great. For it alone, I would give 4 stars. I went with some friends for dessert. We enjoyed it and the waiter was funny and personable. However I’m keeping my rating at 3 because the past few years when I’ve gotten an actual meal here I haven’t been wowed.

I’m giving 3 stars merely for the food after my last couple visits here. My son and I have been going to Ruby’s forever, it’s our spot as it was mine with my mom in the 90s! We just moved to San Clemente so this is our closest location now. One of the best perks nowadays is that on Tuesdays kids eat free. Last time my son and I went to this location, they didn’t apply the kids eat free and for some reason that time I brushed it off and thought ok maybe this location doesn’t do it? We decided to go last night since it was Tuesday, I called ahead this time and asked them if they do the kids eat free on Tuesdays. The gentleman who took the call (who I’m pretty sure was our server) assured us they do it. We go in and eat, and when he brings the bill I realize he didn’t apply the kids eat free
