I recently went to Sago and honestly loved the whole experience. The vibe was very tropical Tulum-inspired super cute, aesthetic, and perfect for a cute date, night out with girls or content spot! We tried a few dishes and everything was so good: The kimchi marble potatoes were crispy and flavorful with the cilantro, chimichurri, and chive crema (definitely one of my favorites). The cucumber salad was really fresh and light with a nice kick from the serrano and ponzu. We also had the hamachi ceviche, which tasted super fresh, and the Japanese fried chicken with chive kaluga caviar which was crispy, juicy, and just a really fun, unique dish. The drinks were also super refreshing and slightly tropical, perfect with the food. Overall, the atmosphere, presentation, and flavors were all on p
Came to eat here for a friend’s birthday on a Wednesday night. Had an amazing time thanks to our amazing server, Lamar. He went above and beyond to make sure me and our party of 7 were comfortable and enjoying our meal. The place itself is gorgeous and the vibe is immaculate. The lighting and the decor is so elegant and sexy, and it’s a great place for photos. The food was good! Nothing was bad nor was anything exceptionally good, just good! No leftovers to take home as it is a tapas restaurant. It is a little pricey for the portion you get. I didn’t leave feeling full but had already spent a bit more than I’d like on food and drink. Otherwise, our server Lamar is the reason why I give this place 5 stars. Thank you, Lamar!
Sago Encinitas is an absolute gem! From start to finish, our experience was phenomenal. The portions are generous for a tapas-style restaurant, so you can try a variety of dishes without feeling rushed. Every dish we had was outstanding. The chicken and caviar was rich and flavorful, the Mi Goreng noodles were perfectly seasoned, and the Wagyu and chicken skewers were cooked to perfection. We also enjoyed the tuna tartare and hamachi crudo, which were fresh, delicate, and beautifully presented. You can’t leave without trying the lobster bao. The drinks are just as impressive as the food. Our favorites were the Number 9, which was phenomenal, and every cocktail we tried was crafted with care. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made the evening feel extra special. The live music startin
My boyfriend and I recently dined at Sago in Encinitas, and to say we loved our experience would be an understatement. From the food and cocktails to the hospitality and overall vibe, everything exceeded our expectations. Our server, Jordyn, was incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. She walked us through the menu and offered great recommendations. The menu is perfect for sharing, so we ordered several plates. One of my favorites was the Hamachi Ceviche, it was fresh and perfectly balanced. We also tried a few cocktails and genuinely loved every one. I would recommend Sago to anyone looking for a great date night spot, a celebration dinner, or even a relaxed weeknight happy hour. We arrived around 5 pm, which was ideal for taking our time, and the space became more lively as the evening
This is THE vibe in Encinitas! The lush jungle-theme aesthetic is perfection on the main street. I came when they first opened last year, and I thought the flavors were even better and portions more filling this time! They also revamped the new front bar area so it's more open for bar seating and lounging. Absolute favs are the soft shell crab (2 meaty pieces with rice and curry), lobster baos, and divine fried chicken and caviar. We loved everything we ordered plus the presentation was beautiful too. This will be your favorite spot for an upscale date night or girl's night out, with drinks, live DJ, and solid Asian-fusion menu!
