My husband and I recently hired David Pletrafesa from Scott, Stackrow & Co., P.C. to help us file taxes for our first building investment. We went to the appointment hoping for valuable advice, but unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. For $950, we received a packet in the mail that felt overwhelming and unnecessary. We hired them for guidance, yet we barely met for a consultation. When discussing the costs of our new HVAC system, a friend mentioned it was tax-deductible, which was a detail that hadn’t even crossed our minds. Hands down the worst experience we’ve had with an accountant in 25+ years of business. We took our taxes and a few other matters to David Stackrow, who assured us we’d be building a partnership that would last. Nothing could be further from our experience. Sparse communication, fragmented work, stonewalling and gaslighting have been the core aspects of the relationship. Attention to detail or any of the kindness and empathy usually present in a partnership has been woefully absent. We’ve tried everything to make it work, from being flexible to waiting weeks on end, all to culminate with consistent and blatant unprofessionalism. Inconsiderate & disorganized. I completed a phone intake and was told someone would get back to me in about a week. Waited and waited.... almost a month. When I finally called them I was told they are not intrested, just to busy. When asked why they didn't just say that a month ago when they seemed very intrested in charging $400 for a consult the intake person really had no response. Can't say if they are good or bad as I never got to use their services but I can only assume if this is how they treat people it is not a place I'm intrested in working with.
