SELMA'S AFRICAN CUISINE

Looks like an excellent authentic place for African food. So decided to stop by for lunch. Cosy little place mostly for take out. And I love a local authentic little hidden gem. So i got the okra soup everyone is raving about with beef. However I was quite disappointed by it. The flavor is great. Portion is decent but it isn't that cheap give that everything is $20. I was expecting soft meat falling off the bone, or at least el dente. But instead I got hunks of impossible to chew pieces. After cutting into small bites it's manageable but the tendons and fatty bits are very tough. Maybe the chicken would've been better but can't say I'm impressed. The Okra soup also got quite a bit of tough fibrous bits, but it's probably hard to get quality okra this time of year. So just hey ready for som

Im not new to African food. The food was ok but not the best. The lady at the counter was SO RUDE. She made it seem like we were the biggest inconvenience of her day. there was food on display and she kept saying they have no food. My sister said there is food right there and the lady replied thats all we have. My sister said thats what we can for. My sister recommended it cause she says our dad comes here. They are better than me cause I was ready to tell her off and leave. The seating area was limited but they had a sink to wash your hands which is a good thing considering you eat here with your hands.

THE best FOOD in Albany!!! I highly recommend the peanut butter soup with banku and chicken, but there are many other amazing dishes! Come support this small business!

The food was just wonderful and Selma was so helpful getting things picked out for a party. Thank you so much! Will be back for sure, everything was just wonderful.

This restaurant was amazing!! Food was great and I definitely will be back. Filling and so full of flavor. 100% recommend.
