Shipley Do-Nuts

I went to Shipleys 11/22 because they always have the best donuts. I guess today was just an off day. I got a cinnamon roll and a Bavarian cream, and two orders of donut holes. The cinnamon rolled looked burnt and old and the Bavarian cream looked like someone took a bite out of it. I was disappointed after taking them out of the bag for my asst and I, but every business deserves a bad day.

I’m getting so tired of these restaurants increased prices and decreased quality of food. OMG. Tried this location because the other one in town gave me donuts with hair on them. Paid $5 for a vanilla frappe for my spouse and this is what I got. Person taking my order doesn’t even seem like she wanted to be there. Upon ordering it was just “what can I get for you, what else, what else, what else, what else?”

Glazed were hot and fresh! Line is always long at 7:00am, but the line was fast-paced. The lady at the window was super helpful and courteous. Once you get to the window, they get your order out to you in a flash. The apple fritter was fresh. The cinnamon twist came out as expected. This is a popular location in the morning so give yourself some extra time if you plan on going through the driveway window. You can't beat a hot glazed doughnut from Shipley's!!

Was disappointed with our breakfast detour this morning, Decided to treat the kids to donuts to start off the school week. We ordered with an unfriendly girl at the window who acted as if me smiling and saying good morning was a a bother. Then we were told they were already out of donut holes at 8 am. We decided on something else and was given a more than expected total but we paid and then were handed a bag. Luckily I checked the bag and realized we were given an extra chocolate milk and I let the girl know and she scoffed and said it’s okay I charged you for it and I replied I didn’t need it and would like a refund and returned it to her she made it clear she was annoyed and went to get I’m assuming her manager. Decidedly less than wonderful. The staff are delightful. The place is bright, spotlessly clean and cheerful. Let’s start with the sausage kolache. As others have said, maybe too much bread to meat ratio. A pinky sized sausage in a large hot-dog bun sizes roll. Would you enjoy a meat stick in a hotdog bun? The FLAVOR of the kolache is excellent. Now the sad…. The Apple fritter. It was this large fat blob. No discernible apple bits. No distinct cinnamon flavor. No crispy outside and chewy insides like several of my favorite Shipley locations. I couldn’t eat more than second bite. Just a rather unpleasant burnt-oil flavor and aftertaste.
