Simply Nova

I recently visited this place for the first time and I was blown away by the quality of the food. I ordered a toasted everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, nova salmon, tomato, onion, and capers, and it was absolutely delicious. The nova salmon was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and I was told that it was sourced locally. The menu had so many options to choose from, and I can't wait to come back and try some of the smoked fish options. The service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious and satisfying meal. I will definitely be returning next time I am in town.

Really enjoyed our visit today, shared a bagel and lox, Scottish Salmon was delicious. Three guys behind the counter worked hard to get our order out. Everything in the glass display looked delicious. Last but not least was the package of Cinnamon Baka that I just devoured, oh my that was good.

Solid spot in the E. Wburg just off the L Grand Street station. I’ve been living in the neighborhood some 3 years, and in the last 2 Simply Nova quickly became my regular for the weekend. The lox (everything, of course) bagel is my favorite. A friend tried the pastrami salmon egg sandwich and said it was really good, gotta give it a try. The guys working there are super chill, and I mentioned that their place is going to blow up with how many people I see there each time I visit. I haven’t tried all the cured meats yet, they look good. They also have a cool selection of fish tins (I think that’s what they’re called?) from Spain, etc. Next time, I plan to try the matzo ball soup. I hope this spot stays as great as it is now.

Watch out for over-tipping! I only picked up a $17.96 lox bagel, but I was charged $22.45. When I saw the card alert and went back to ask, they explained it was because I didn’t select a tip option after tap-to-pay, so the system added one automatically. They said sorry, but honestly, I would’ve preferred to simply get my $4.49 back. Instead, I wasn’t even given that choice. I came from far away and was really looking forward to trying this place because of all the good reviews. I never expected to walk out feeling this disappointed and upset before even taking a bite of the bagel. To be fair, the salmon tasted amazing, though.

Simply Nova was absolutely a “taste of nostalgia”—back to a certain appetizing shop on the Lower East Side that I lived walking distance from for years, before moving to Queens. My sable with cream cheese and capers on a bialy was everything bit as satisfying as the old shop. Service is terrific and just as I would expect. They have everything you would want in a proper appetizing shop (plus deli too). The store is roomy and was quiet at 9 am on a Saturday morning. I will be back many times!
