Simply Southern Bistro

Flavorful and fresh! An impromptu search on Google led us here for a quick bite on our road trip- a small but delightful detour. Part of a tiny strip mall, the simple exterior leads to a casual and cozy interior. We split the 'Fried Squash and Zucchini Sticks' and a 'Simple burger' with house-made Fries. Could have made a meal of the Sticks; they were amazing! The Burger and Fries were equally excellent! My sister and I were just looking for a small break from driving and found our new favorite restaurant!

Excellent! The service is A+. All the staff were kind and helpful. It was very clean. Now for the food, what can I say, I had a bacon, turkey, cranberry mayo sandwich on the most delicious toasted bread, My sister had the duck sandwich and she can't stop raving about it. I also had the cucumber tomato vinerarette salad and she has a baked sweet potato done to perfection. For desert she had a piece of pecan cake and I had praline. Also excellent. For drinks we had fresh made unsweet iced tea. I will go back next time I'm in town!

Had the She Crab soup and Fried Green Tomaroes with a sweet tea. The soup was scrumptious and the come back sauce served with the tomatoes was AMAZING. Waitress was super sweet and attentive and offered extra sauce and kept my drink full. Sweet tea was also delicious, the restaraunt was clean and the prices were so reasonable. My only regret was that I was too full for the homemade desserts. Stop in and they will make you feel at home! This spot is a hidden gem, don’t miss it if you’re in Sumter!

Food is normally okay. It’s relatively affordable and you get what you paid for. It’s usually good. I would give the food 4/5 on average. The reason I am reviewing today: Today I decided to go here a whole hour before their closing time, and even though they’re open, they turned me away saying their kitchen is closed. This is a restaurant and they closed their kitchen a whole hour early?? Well if you’re closing early on a normal day maybe you should update your hours on the internet so we don’t all waste our times… Also the girl that turned me away literally just walked outside 5 min after me to say hello to her significant other who parked in front of the restaurant real quick during her work hours… so clearly they have zero intention of selling any food items to a customer at this tim

The menu is upscale Southern fare. The servers are very attentive and serving portions are large and well presented. The restaurant looks like a start-up with standard table & chairs in a small strip mall.
