The service was not as good as I have had previous times there - they didn’t put in one diner’s order - but the food is good and I love the atmosphere. Feels a bit like you have traveled to Italy. We were bummed because we had been lured in by an email advertising a promotional pasta and wine pairing for the month of September but it turned out to not be happening for some reason. I really liked the milkshake that came with the sfingi (doughnuts) and the polenta fries were tasty. The risotto could have used some pepper and it was perhaps a little too past peak stone fruit season for the peaches in the summer salad.
I had only eaten at Sociale one previous time, sitting at their little two person bar a few years ago and had always wanted to return. I cannot fathom why I have not been back until this evening. What an exceptional night! The pillowy little rolls with delicious butter, cream of mushroom soup, a rockshrimp pasta that was not my favorite, but I could appreciate the flavors, and then a fall off the bone short rib with turnip “risotto”. Creative food, but still comforting and delicious.. Finished with an affogato, and throughout the meal, multiple glasses of wonderfully recommended wine. But most importantly, the service was truly exceptional. The servers, the runners, every single person treated me as though I was a regular, even though this is only my second time here. Beautiful food and
Delicious meal in a quaint and lively setting that feels like being at a cafe in Italy. Definitely recommend the Pappardelle with Braised Duck and Burrata.
Had a private room for a function. The space was quiet and secluded with its own private bathroom. Service was attentive. The wine list is extensive and well researched. Food was good, dessert was excellent. A must try on Sacramento Street.
Just finished dinner here and I have to say i’m pretty disappointed. The Wagyu was charred black and it tasted burnt. The Rabbit Black Pepper Fettuccine was EXTREMELY salty and had bones and cartilage throughout the shredded meat. It was inedible and plates were left full. The sauce was more like chicken cacciatore and nothing like the white sauce that was described. They also don’t take discovery card so watch out!!! We didn’t see that anywhere or even on the menu. The place is nice and I like the atmosphere but the waiter was busy on a Tuesday night and saw the full plates of food left and didn’t check in or ask how the food was or why the food wasn’t eaten. He just asked if we were done and took the full plates of uneaten food away. We were really excited to eat here as it had such goo
