Another fantastic lunch at Sophie's Cuban in Tribeca! The baked chicken entree is my favorite - nicely seasoned, tender, and flavorful. It comes with generous portions of sides that complement the dish beautifully. The casual, welcoming atmosphere makes it a great spot for a quick lunch or leisurely meal. Service is always friendly and efficient. Sophie's continues to deliver authentic Cuban flavors that keep me coming back. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
1st time trying Sophie's, so I was a lil excite. The spot is ok, the help is on point, food looked great. However, the grilled chicken was drier than the Mohave Desert. I ate it, or most of it but chicken was horrendous n why I thought it important to leave this review. Rice beans n sweet plantians were fine. Stay away from the grilled chicken.
First time getting lunch from here. I always get their empinadas and love them. The chicken was a bit dry. Seasoned okay but not like the seasoning from more uptown restaurants. The rice was good, a bit wet for my taste but decent enough to eat. Plantains were great and sweet just like I like them. Depending on the day I may return for another lunch. Definitely will continue getting their empinadas in the morning (price difference in the afternoon and that’s not cool)
Came in as a first timer. Ordered a Cuban sandwich. It was already pre-made and stored in a fridge ( I didn't expect that), then heated on a panini press. It was smaller than I had expected, but it wasn't bad in taste. Also, order a small entrée, the sides were the yellow rice was really good, yuca in garlic mojo sauce was so soft and tasty, peril as the main, it was good. They did have seafood and vegetarian options available, too. Pricing wasn't overpriced, it is reasonable. Drinks were ridiculously overpriced, but then again, it's Manhattan. Def a spot to go back to overall, just with my own bev. Not big spot, about 4 stools to sit, it becomes crowded quick. But there's a park nearby you can go to sit and eat on a nice day.
The food is always fresh, the staff is friendly and always patient when I ask for an understanding of what is in s certain dish or simply to understand the menu. I walk a few blocks to get here every visit. Always a lunch dish so I try to go around 11 or 1 but never 12noon. It's am easier and more fluid line after or before noon. Based on my experience and opinion, that's all.
