During my recent trip to Waikiki, my nephew and I stopped for breakfast at the Splash Bar, located poolside at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani. While I wasn’t staying at that particular hotel (I was at another Marriott property), I decided to try it out—and I’m glad I did. I ordered the Pineapple Sausage Hash Moco ($31), which was listed on the menu as a “local favorite.” It came with a hearty serving of rice, topped with house-made hash (pineapple Portuguese sausage, potatoes, and sweet onions), two eggs cooked to order, and covered in rich brown gravy. Whether or not it’s truly a local staple, I can’t say—but what I can say is that it was delicious, filling, and well-prepared. The portion size was generous, easily justifying the price. My nephew went with the Strawberry Waffle ($29), a
Hotel food at its worst. Nachos are always a safe and delicious bet wherever you go, except here. The pork was cold; the cheese tasted and looked like the Easy Cheese that comes out of a can. My dining partner has beef that had no flavor and no texture. Tasted like it had been heated in a microwave and covered in a brown gravy. I think the kitchen staff tried to compensate for the low quality meal with a nice presentation. The wait staff were professional and friendly.
We had a great time, having drinks and enjoying each other's company. It was a nice atmosphere and the staff was nice and attentive. I really enjoyed myself.
One of our go to places while on our honeymoon. Went for dinner 3/7 nights. The fish and chips hit every time, their coleslaw was so good. The Hawaiian plate was another favourite, you get so much pork and rice, it was so tasty. My husband loved the fish tacos and devoured them. The nachos were a bit of a let down as they use liquid cheese instead of shredded. We had an older local gentleman as our server two of our nights and he remembered us and that made us feel good. The live music was SO good, different performers every night. The cocktails are quite pricey and not worth it, but for our first mai tai on our honeymoon we paid for it. The folks working at the bar are gems. Especially the guy in the hat with longer hair (didn’t catch his name) and the woman working (didn’t catch her name
Poolside area of the Princess Ka'iulani Hotel. We enjoy popping in for dinner or drinks late afternoon. Often live music and room to dance if you're so inclined. We like what's on the menu. The servers are attentive and friendly. Hotel-level prices but a nice treat to enjoy the food, the weather, the music.
