Stamey's Barbecue of Tyro

When I walked into this place I thought how cute the tables, benches and decorative pigs are. I was looking forward to the BBQ. The waitress was very nice and polite. When the food arrived I was surprised of the large portions of everything. The sliced pork was thick and looked juicy. The coleslaw was in super small diced pieces which was different but I love slaw. The onion rings looked average. I started with the slaw, it was awful. Diced cabbage and lots of vinaigrette. Onion rings were extremely greasy. Oh how unbelievably disgusting was the flavor of the pork. I am talking about the meat itself, not the super thin almost flavorless bbq sauce. We were off the beaten path heading back home to SC and stumbled across this gem! The ladies were very friendly and the food was so good. The hush puppies are little bites of crispy puffy goodness! We got the chopped BBQ plate and tray. We ordered both kinds of slaw and both were really good. Plenty of food and the price was fair. Will definitely stop back by and try some else on the menu.

Our visit was about 7:30p from working the trails... The food hit the table less than 3min from ordering. Healthy portions and a zinger taste. This was top quality BBQ and showcases why NC is the mecca for it. Just down the road from our homes in Arcadia - repeat visitors!

They have the best Dragon burgers I have ever had, I just keep forgetting to ask for bacon. My boss took all of us to Stamey's one day for lunch and I've been coming back ever since 1979. Keep up the good work 👏

This place has the best and biggest fried chicken breast sandwich I've ever seen. But not it's delicious. I've never gotten anything from stameys that was bad at all. Always fresh and hot.
