Straw Hat Beach

[NOTE: This is not a public beach and does not have public access! It is on a US military base & you need a US military ID to access it.] This beach is the NAS Key West Truman Annex Beach - no idea why it is listed in some places as Straw Hat Beach. It's a smaller beach but still a good one - excellent parking close to the sand and free! Beach has several picnic shelters with tables. Coarse coral gravel above high tide line (wear crocs or water shoes) but sand at water line is pretty nice. 9/10 would visit again. If you are military, retired or have access to military bases this beach is well worth checking out when you visit Key West.

Went here to the beach on the NAS Truman Annex, which was very nice and quiet. Went the night before and saw fireworks. The beaches in Key West are pretty much coral, although there is a sandy part before you go in the water. Definitely wear water shoes or flip flops. You could cut your feet.

Beautiful beach. Secluded. The store and eating area aren't open anymore but sure if that is due to the hurricane or if it's been a while. Came here with my dad and it's a great spot to relax. Quiet and lovely. The beach has lots of shelves and shells near the water as well. Shoes are recommended while walking near the water. Found lots of unique sea glass and shells here too.

Our favorite beach in Key West! Very rocky so beware about protecting your feet. Three new picnic tables and pavilions. Wonderful place to watch the sunset from.

Crowded but ok. Lots of seaweed this time of year, plus the marijuana and drunk girls with their playlist you didn’t sign up for. There are some great beaches in Key West, but this one I might hit early morning or on weekdays.
