Sunken Well Tavern

Definitely worth many return visits Ginormous portions, creative dishes and excellent quality food. Regular menu looked great but we ordered from the breakfast specials. It’s a small space and at shortly after 11 we got the last available table, although there were still a couple empty stools at the small bar. Waitresses were buzzing. Food was delicious and we could have easily shared the 2 dishes we ordered. A disappointment (in a good way) as we were sightseeing all day, it was warm out and we had no way of safely keeping our leftovers without risking spoilage.

We found some street parking and were sat pretty quickly for our party of 4. Friendly service, and already somewhat busy on a Sunday morning around 10. There is a friendly stray cat that comes around and it's pet friendly outside. It was nice and quiet and a nice day to sit outside. I ordered a cup of coffee and the tater tot bowl. The tater tot bowl was good and had chunks of sliced Chorizo. I did wish it had more Chorizo and I think the ground Chorizo might be better with the dish but overall good. My friends enjoyed their meal as well and they do also have cocktails.

Our first time here. Glad Google maps shared this location. It was sooo good. The waitress was soo attentive and helpful. Best french toast ive had in a while. Home fries were sooo good too. The pancakes is gigantic. Worth every penny. We will definitely be back. I recommend stopping by for some local great food. Came back already for lunch. Again amazing food. Definitely a hidden gem here. Stop by for great food. 😁👍🏼👍🏼

My buddy and I stopped in for a quick bite while passing through. The place has that rustic and historic vibe with art work from local artists adorning the walls. Josh was the server who helped us and he was very attentive and helpful. A pretty cool dude in fact. I had the classic burger, but found it to be mediocre. The patty itself didn't really fit the bun and the flavor was average. My buddy had the roast beef with horseradish and the onion rings. The roast beef was balled up like the burger and there was little to no horseradish. The onion rings were good, but not excellent. Flavor was average as well for both. For drinks, atmosphere, and maybe a quick bite, it may be worth a try for those who are curious, or passing through.

My wife and I visited Sunken Well in Fredericksburg during a business trip that also happened to coincide with our 25th anniversary, and we could not have chosen a better place to celebrate. We were recommended this restaurant by a local, and from the moment we walked in, the entire experience was nothing short of incredible. Jacob recommended the Red Beans and RIce, (My wife had the Picanha Steak) and paired it with the a good beer tasting. Every dish delivered an explosion of flavor and creativity. The presentation was impeccable, and each plate felt like a work of art. The service struck the perfect balance of attentiveness without ever feeling intrusive. One of the highlights was our Bartender, Jake, who shared the story behind all of the buildings intricacies and history—an extra to
