Swain's Seafood and Cut Restaurant

First time coming here and food was very good overall. After seating us we were started with the house-made potato chips with ranch. This was a nice change and was fresh and delicious. Next we tried the fried pickle spears with spicy ranch. These were good but the fried breading was not sticking very well due to the juicy pickles, but overall had good taste. Finally the time had come and we feasted our eyes on the main course. I got the fried seafood combo platter with oysters and clams. This meal came with a side salad, hand-cut fries, hush puppies, and slaw. The whole dish was awesome, my only complaint was the fried oysters were not very crunchy. My husband and I each got the three item combination platters. His was fried, mine was blackened. This was some of the best seafood we have ever had. You could taste how fresh it was. Service was great, food was perfectly prepared, it was an all around great experience.

The meals are very well seasoned, prepared and cooked. I have the tendency to skip over steak menu items when I visit Swain's because I'm there for the seafood. On this occasion, my wife ordered the NY Strip and gave me a couple of bites. I'm telling you, I know what I'm getting the next time I visit Swain's, the NY Strip! My goodness that was one fine tasting steak. I tried the Cajun scallops on this visit and they were delicious. I've had the Mermaid Delight on previous visits and that is a wonderful dish too. Whether you're vacationing or a local resident, you really should give Swain's a try.

Ate here are his last THU night and it was so good. Large portions which we love. We got the large plate that has fish, scallops, shrimp clams and oysters and they were so nice to split the steamed options for me (fish, shrimp, scallops) on one plate and the breaded clams and oysters on another plate for my husband. It also came with slaw, hush puppies and French fries and it was so good. Other features were the homemade chips and ranch they bring to the table, sister in law lived her salad and it was huge. All 8 of us left happy and full. Will def be back in our next trip.

We ate here two times during our recent stay in Oak Island & I have to say the service is top notch. Finding ourselves in Oak Island for the first time and arriving on New Year's Eve, we didn't think to make reservations for dinner. After frantically calling every restaurant which came up in our internet search, we were beyond delighted when the friendly hostess who answered the phone shared that they did have room to accommodate us for dinner & placed us on the call ahead seating list. Once seated, though extremely busy, our wonderful server greeted us almost right away and took our drink orders as well as shared the specials with us.
