100/10 experience! The last time I had a pasta dish this delicious, I was in Europe! The food was amazing, and the portion sizes were generous. They were so kind to let us “create” our own meal from the daily special and the lamb dish on the menu - THANK YOU!! The atmosphere is relaxed yet bougie. The decor here is so pretty! NOTE: There are some reviews about how small the menu is. From my experience, small menus are always a good indicator that someone is back there making fresh meals instead of frozen meals being heated and served! We will be back.

Sweet Basil is one of those places that reminds you: never judge a restaurant by its cover. From the outside, you’re not expecting Italian—honestly, it feels more Indonesian-inspired, quirky, and a little mysterious. Definitely not your typical Italian spot. But then you sit down… and wow. The pesto on focaccia arrives and suddenly everything makes sense. Fresh, vibrant, and dangerously addictive. The olive bread? Finger-licking good—yes, I said it. Don’t fight it. The bolognese was perfectly al dente, with a rich, beautifully balanced sauce that tastes like it’s been simmering with love (and patience). Exactly how it should be done. The Caesar salad was just okay for me—not bad, just not the star of the show. But then came the wine, and let me tell you: you must order it. Absolute per

I can't imagine how I've never been to this place before - it's quite large and impossibly pretty, with a tight menu of creative modern Italian dishes and excellent service. Equally important, the prices are moderate in a time when other restaurants have become unaffordable. A friend ordered the double brined pork chop on a bed of barley risotto and it was breathtaking, and my grey sole on pureed squash was offered as a special which was perfectly delicate with a touch of sweetness. The cocktails sounded a little excessively sweet but were executed with balance and subtlety that I don't see often. Highly recommended.

Our new favorite restaurant. We made reservations for New Years Eve at Sweet Basil and was not disappointed. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. We could see the team effort as our server and other staff members would check in several times if there was anything we needed. The owner, David, also greeted us and checked in, and we had some laughs together. The food was A++++. The flavor and main entrees were great. I highly recommend the bone-in pork chop with risotto. The chop was juicy and cooked perfectly. My wife got the rosemary chicken and was equally flavorful and cooked perfectly. We also got the eggplant caponata that was so flavorful as well. The decor was warm, like we were in a home with warm lighting and comfortables seating. We noticed how each table had d

I love Sweet Basil. Whenever I'm in Waltham for work, I stop in. The food is always great if a little oily for my taste, and the portions are very generous. My current favorite is either the lamb shank (sadly the salmon they used to have is only available as a special and not consistently offered). Ambiance is eccentric. Background music, dim lights, and an artful array of furnishings. My favorite table has all the faux cow hide covers. The star is their selection of cocktails. Their bartender is artsy and personable. Many of the cocktails themselves are carefully crafted variations on traditional cocktails. The last one I had, when figs fly, was a light rum cider with fig. Beautifully executed.
