Had such a nice meal here. Mario greeted me and explained the menu. These prices are great!!! I had a carne asada and pollo. The toppings were fresh! Green sauce ✅️ and the RED SAUCE ✅️ they have the perfect red sauce that I have had in a long time. And have bottle cervezas. 👍🏾
Tacos Calafia in Ahwatukee is a hidden spot in a strip mall on the south side of Chandler Blvd…the carne asada burros are solid and the condiment bar has great smooth & silky guacamole, sauted onions and grilled jalapeños on the side too. The hot salsa is super hot, so beware. The atmosphere is casual and open.
Very clean restaurant. I tried the al pastor & cabeza tacos with corn tortillas. Both meats were delicious, but a second tortilla for each taco would be great. The single corn tortilla fell apart with the all juices from the meat. They had a salsa bar, soda fountain and canned beer. I don't believe they offer chips, rice or beans. They had outdoor seating but no shade at all. Some patio umbrellas would make this place 5 star.
The food is decent and consistent, though it doesn’t particularly stand out. The tacos are lightly filled, with a relatively small portion of meat, the vampiros we had were stale, but the quesadillas were good. The dining experience is very streamlined and self-service, which gives the space a simple, no-frills feel. The staff are friendly and welcoming, even though the setup requires guests to handle most things themselves. The restaurant is clean and well maintained, but the atmosphere is fairly minimal rather than cozy. The condiments station is modest, featuring cilantro, onions, limes, radishes, and a selection of three salsas.
On Tuesday around 12, it was great. Every single table was clean that wasn’t being used. The customer cleaned up after themselves. The salsa bar was clean, no flies, and fully stocked with salsa cups, utensils, salt, and chip bowls. The young man at the front was very nice and let me practice my Spanish! The food was fresh and hot. And the larges are actually large….
