Went to Taix for our anniversary, first time there, and we had such a great experience. The place feels cozy, casual, and warm, and the service was wonderful. We ordered the escargot, seafood paella with a lovely smoky flavor cooked perfectly, and the creamy clam chowder. Everything tasted amazing. We ended with crème brûlée for dessert, and the creamy texture with just the right amount of sweetness really hit the spot. Definitely a memorable anniversary dinner.
Came here for a party in the Champagne room, so I didn't get the full service experience, but it was still a good meal. We ordered the Caesar Salad, Clam Chowder, Fries, and French Onion Soup, all of which were made extremely well, especially the soups! Keep in mind that if you order the soup of the day and salad, the soup portion is very large, unlike the French onion, which is a small cup. If you're not dining in the main room, you'll need to order at the bar and pick up your own food. The bar inside the champagne room only serves alcohol.
Since 1927, L.A.'s oldest French restaurant continues to attract eager diners nightly. It will close it's five banquet rooms with a 300-person capacity in late March, 2026, to reopen on a smaller scale in a multi-use building that will replace the one which has housed Taix since its opening.
We arrived there for our Christmas Eve dinner and decided to join our neighbors in the bar seating, A PARTY OF 4, 2 couples. The server/waitress bypassed us for over 30 minutes. By 6:10 everyone around us had drinks and appetizers. We had nothing. We finally got our servers attention, told her we'd been waiting, and SHE got pissed. She finally took our drink order and food order...20 minutes later the 2 red wines, a beer and cider STILL hadn't shown up. We were able to give her our food order and asked about our drinks...not her fault of course. Almost an hour later, libations arrived FINALLY. My soup bowl came and at the same time my order of mussels showed up. She NEVER asked if we wanted a refill on the drinks, NEVER asked us about dessert either. When the bill came, she couldn
A classic place to dine if you're in LA. Make a reservation for you're going on the weekend to save yourself time we ordered mussels and the duck l'orange. Both were delicious and the correct flavors came through. Service can be a little slow when they're busy but they didn't give us any rush when we stayed a little longer to finish our wines. Very glad to have come here after passing by it for so long.
