Taste of Jamaica

Ordered oxtail meal that was $23 and it was all bones, there was barely 4-5 very small pieces of actual oxtail meat, the rest was all bones. The fried chicken was completely soggy and somehow the chicken itself was dry. The jerk chicken and the plantains were also very dry/overcooked. The beef and chicken patties were okay and the dumpling was good. For what we spent on ordering from here, I was not happy to say the least and we won't be ordering anything from here ever again.

I order jerk chicken and got over night stew or baked chicken, tha cabbage tasted like it was in metal pan. Only thing I could eat was the rice without gravy. So pissed I bought this 10 in the morning

Today I felt like be on the wild side and tried oxtail and curry goat combination. Oh let me tell you I was not disappointed. I’m very indecisive and when I’m hungry. This will definitely be my go to spot whenever I’m visiting Newbritain.

I have Iamaican roots and this is THE ONLY restaurant in CT that serves authentic Jamaican Food the Escoveitch Red Snapper with rice & peas with veggies, is my favorite.. it’s a humble spot with a storefront in the restaurant, This is exactly how small restaurants in Jamaica the main island operate, Authentic🏆

Taste of Jamaica is a small bodega filled with authentic Jamaican spices, herbs, snacks, and more (lots of interesting Jamaican goods). I tried their jerk chicken meal and the flavor was great, the spice blend was perfect. The jerk sauce drizzled on top was good but I just wish they gave more to eat with the rice. Overall a decent jerk chicken meal!
