Went here for dinner before symphony show. Service was quick and food delivered in a timely manner. The appetizer was tasty and pretty. However, the roll was not made tight enough so it fell apart in our hands. Chopsticks might have made eating this easier. Otherwise eating an egg roll with a fork doesn't make sense The chicken curry was a little two salty and not sweet enough. The steak was well cooked and tender but too citrus.
I’ve now dined at Burma Love, Burma Superstar and Teakwood. The latest being Teakwood. Like Burma Love, near SFMoma, this restaurant is beautiful. The service is also good. My quibble is the food, much like the other restaurants, food is presented well, looks delish but falls flat in flavor. We ordered the Tea Salad, while a decent salad it lacked the essential flavor-the fermented tea dressing, we were t sure it was even Tea Salad. We were headed to a show so we had time constraints so didn’t quibble. I ordered the Duck Curry Rice bowl, which was described as spicy, not spicy at all and the flavor was flat as to render it boring. Burmese food I’ve had is bold, flavorful, delicious, maybe it started that way at Burma Superstar, but it feels like they have focused on everything else but the
Perfect place for quick bites before symphony concert. Didn’t get a table when we walked in at 6:15 despite the fact that there were many empty tables. We were guided to the bar. Food was very tasty and the only issue was some of the peanuts in the tea salad were not fresh. Also when we felt the steak was too raw and asked if the dish could be cooked a little more, the guy who delivered the dish was obviously upset but he did take it back to kitchen after mumbling something about California law which we were not sure what he was talking about. The steak came back perfect. Hen of the wood/fried maitake mushrooms is a must try. Overall we enjoyed the meal and spent $135 for two people ordered two nonalcoholic drinks, three appetizers and one steak main dish. Portions are on the small side.
The egg, the lime, pickled green, cilantro, the meat texture and the paste within the noodles, all of it was the perfect storm. Salad was refreshing and the garlic noodles put it all together. However, The one thing that stood out the most was the perfect service form all aspects, everyone was smiling, caring and happpy. Eat there!
Well executed food and innovative cocktail menu. Highly recommend for vegetarians and gluten free folks. Definitely get a Rez or you'll get a timed table even if it's slow
