Thai Express, Ellinger

In the name of Jesus, Mary, and holy bird’s-eye chilies—how does Ellinger, TX have righteous Thai food like this? Blink and you’ll miss the town, but don’t you dare miss Thai Express. This place exists because a Thai woman felt a God-given calling to land right here in Ellinger, and folks… the calling was correct. It’s run by a genuinely kind couple, and the food comes out swinging. Portions are straight-up generous, flavors are legit, and the spice doesn’t whisper—it testifies. This is not Midwest “spicy.” This is sit-up-straight, clear-your-sinuses, see-the-light spicy. We had the basil fried rice and Pad Kee Mao with tofu. Both were outstanding and absolutely brought the heat. We will be back. Amen and pass the chili oil. 🌶️

Highly recommend!!! Got the crab Rangoon’s and Tofu Spring Roll. Creamy dipping sauce for the Rangoon’s, with quality fillings and not too greasy as all. And the spring rolls are delicious I do not go unnoticed that they have no carrots which is preferred bc cucumbers and carrots are actually bed to eat together (if you didn’t know now you do! Shouldn’t be digested int he same sitting! 😉) Can’t wait to stop by again going back and forth between Austin and Houston, which I do often. Fresh made food, freshly made peanut sauce as she was out when I got there. Such a sweet lady working here today. This place is actually located besides the Shell gas station, it is not inside it as maps is showing when you zoom in.

I am so impressed with Thai Express! Everything I have tried has been delicious, fresh and SO flavorful. The wonton soup is the best I’ve ever had! So glad to have authentic Thai food in our little community.

Finally, we have an option in Ellinger that isn't kolaches, burgers, or barbecue. Don't get me wrong: we love all of the above. Still, we were happy to see this on the ATX-HTX drive. Hands down the best and freshest Thai food that we have ever had outside of a Thai household. This is now our automatic go to when we make the drive. You should make it yours too. Tell them that David and Kyle sent you.

We went here for date night and Oui (sorry I don't know how to spell it) made it SO special for us. She was so kind and went above and beyond expectations! P.s. the thai tea, ragoons, and yellow curry were fantastic!!
