The Dragon Room

I was very pleased to find an Asian fusion restaurant downtown Columbia that was open until midnight on a Tuesday — that alone is a huge plus. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I only tried two dishes during my visit, and unfortunately neither stood out, though I’m hopeful other menu items may be stronger. The pho was disappointing from the moment it arrived. The broth had a brown, hazy appearance rather than the clear, clean look typically expected, and the flavor leaned more toward a ramen-style broth than a fresh, vibrant pho. The noodles were also overcooked to the point of being very soft and mushy, which made the dish hard to enjoy. I wouldn’t recommend this item. We had such a fun night at The Dragon Room in the Vista! The menu is inspired by bold East Asian flavors with creative small plates that are perfect for sharing — everything felt fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. The cocktails were standout too, with inventive mixes that complemented the food beautifully. The atmosphere is cozy and lively, great for a date night or dinner with friends. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommend trying multiple dishes and some of their crafted drinks!

Good service recovery from poor quality food. Pro: awesome and accomodating staff, beautiful space for dining (even for solo dining by the bar), varied menu to accomodate individual preferences in group dining. Loved their "Not Fried Chicken". Con: Their dan-dan noodles is nothing more than udon noodles in peanut butter goo and sesame seeds. Very 2 dimensional in flavor, even though the menu adjectives make it sound tastier. Barely a full sprig of broccoli in the dish and lots of fried shallots to hide the lack of taste. The teriyaki chicken (dark meat) add-on was abysmal. How can it be nicely charred on the top side and yet undercooked on the bottom? Their "dragon sauce" is nothing but watered down gochuchang. Then came the pineapple soda... the juice has already started fermenting!!! W

I went here back in May and had the three course meal with accompanying cocktails along with my fiance. We really enjoyed our experience here! The cocktails were absolutely delicious, and though we can't say that we LOVED every part of our meal, we liked everything and appreciated the innovativeness of the dishes. Definitely recommend if you are want to try something new! Staff were also great and timed our next courses perfectly and the dining area was lovely and comfortable.

SO GOOD!!! This has been the best restaurant I have tried in Columbia. We were able to get a table last minute on a weekend thankfully, and it was so worth the hassle to find parking. The atmosphere is dark and lively, staff was super sweet. The bathrooms were very nice and clean as well! The food was SO AMAZING!! I’ve been thinking about it ever since I went. Can’t wait to come back!!
