The Gingerbread House B & B

Stayed one night with a friend during our GAP/C&O bike trip. We did not have bad service. It was just very thin and 100% virtually-hosted. We never saw a host, and I feel like we missed out based on the other reviews of wonderful pancake breakfasts. I pre-paid for two rooms June 18th for our October 13th stay. Somehow, the only check-in communication came through my friend's text, which I was grateful for because it had the door code and check -in instructions, yet also somewhat confused by since I never got any information on my phone or email. We stayed on a Monday, and we got a bit lucky for dinner. We had a nice stay at this B&B as a stop on the GAP trail. We appreciated that it was a self-serve night, and liked the independence to cook on our own. There were many food options for breakfast. We cooked for dinner, picking up supplies at the local convenience store. Trailhead Brewery is an 5 minute walk. (Not much else in town) Our bikes felt safe and secure under the porch. The bed was comfortable, neighborhood is quiet, house is clean. A friendly neighbor who oversaw the property when the owner is away was a phone call away.

Josiah was the perfect host - welcoming us, helping with bags, recommending a dinner location and cooking us a delicious breakfast. The rooms are nicely appointed and the location is just off the gap trail. We enjoyed breakfast with other gap riders and shared tips (as we were headed in opposite directions).

We had a wonderful overnight stay at the Gingerbread House after a long day of cycling on the GAP trail. Tracy was our host, and she was great checking us in and showing us around. She made us feel right at home, and showed us where to store our bikes. The next morning, she cooked us a wonderful hot breakfast with blueberry french toast, a delicious seasonal fruit salad and sausages. The rooms were lovely, with quaint furnishings, toiletries, plenty of towels and nice hot showers. The location is perfect for anyone doing the GAP trail. We will definitely stay here again.

Our stay at the Gingerbread House was a remarkable one. The house has been kept true to its legacy and is pin-clean and quaint with from the time of the early 1900's furnishings in the parlor. Our room was quite spacious and very comfortable, the linens are very comfortable and high quality and the room itself was overall pin-clean. Josiah welcomed us to a hearty breakfast of wonderful farm-fresh scrambled eggs, incredibly wonderful blueberry pancakes with the most delicious pumpkin syrup that I've ever had and wholesome and plentiful pork sausages. I'm from Iowa and have had many farm-fresh breakfasts in my lifetime. To say Josiah's breakfast was wonderful would be trivializing it. To say it was magnificent would be an understatement.
