The Old Bag of Nails Pub - Mason

I had the seafood platter (traditional fish & chips plus fried shrimp) - it was delicious. It was a LOT of food. The waitress was extremely attentive (maybe checked in with us 7 times?). TVs were everywhere if you're into watching sports. A little bit loud for easy conversation with the music that was playing.

I love the food here but the service is incredibly slow that most the time I don't go at all. Not sure if this is a staffing issue or just how the kitchen / chef operates. If you eat in or order to go, it takes over 30 minutes easily to get your food. One time it was over 40 minutes. Not really one to complain but it seems like a every single time its an extremely long wait. I ordered it on door dash to avoid the wait to dine in and they had the dash driver there for over 30 minutes ignoring them is very rude. I hope to see this improve. I can go to Firebirds and get a 5 star meal in half the time.

I never would've expected this kind of place in a strip mall but you really have to get here and try their food! Firstly the place is big and our booth could've fit the whole extended family in it! And each booth has its own tv which is really cool! Watching Final Four and eating great seafood together just can't be beat! I got the Fish n Chips Eddie style, onion rings and cole slaw! Huge portion with 2 big pieces and 1 was bigger than most other restaurants. Battered in house came out hot and fresh! The onion rings were battered onsite too and it was light and airy and these things were HUGE! A lot of batter but great nonetheless! Cole slaw was great as well with a little zing to it. Well worth it! Mrs got same thing except hers was blackened, side salad and the famous potato cakes.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to Bags of Nails because we moved an hour south. Their name popped up in a conversation my wife and I were having so we made plans to visit them the next day. It’s always a treat to return to a restaurant you haven’t been to for a while and find your old favorites tasting just the way you remember them. That was our experience this time around and we’re so glad we made the trip. I had a cup of New England Clam Chowder and it was absolutely delicious! We also ordered a fish and shrimp platter and were reminded just how much fish and shrimp - a lot, and it is some of the best fish around! Date day took us to Mason where we visited The Old Bag of Nails, beautiful bar and pub. I got a sweet jalapeno margarita and he got the blackberry Traveller, both were excellent and in their fall drink menu. For starters we got the fried pickles and fried Wisconsin cheese curds and both decided to have the fish & chips and opted for Eddie's spice. Fish and chips were excellent, most, crispy and not over breaded. Cole slaw was also very good, not too vinegary or sweet.
