The Pit Sandwich Spot @ 700 South

4.5/5 Very friendly service at homemade BBQ and the sides. They are only open Thursday and Friday 10-2. Delicious ham, macaroni salad and baked beans ($12 for combo meal with large servings) that were not overly sweet. West River BBQ is still number #1 IMO but this is still a great place for BBQ. BBQ sauce bought at Sprouts was excellent on the pit ham.

Come here if you would like a juicy, thin-sliced, flavorful, smoky, rare pit beef sandwich! I ordered mine with extra meat. They gave me nearly a pound of rare pit beef on a Kaiser roll. The prices here very reasonable. The counter service is speedy. Most of the customers come here regularly, as the staff know most of the patrons names. Keep in mind this is a lunchtime establishment. The hours are 10am to 2pm. This restaurant gets 10 stars for cleanliness. My only gripe is that they don’t have free tap water. You have to buy bottled water if you want water.

To me, there's nothing more Baltimore when it comes to food than a perfect fit beef sandwich on a Kaiser roll. This little place pulled it off flawlessly. Friendly service. Nice eating areas upstairs. Pit beef was perfectly cooked and stacked with onions. Will come back next time we're in the area.

First time customer. I do alot of food reviews. Here is my take. Walked in, clean and orderly carryout style stand. I ordered a pit beef medium well with onions and cheese. I expected a warm to hot sandwich. It was so cool the cheese didn't melt. That's my only complaint. Overall I was satisfied, great taste. Added horseradish and BBQ sauce. I will try again. And hope for a hot sandwich. Service was great, and fast. Restaurant is very clean looking. I will go back for round two.

We went with our grandson and his wife. It was early in week so not very crowded but food was very good, served hot and timely.
