The Public House on the Lake

Our recent visit to Public House was good, but not great—a step down from our last time there. The stunning lake view remains the biggest draw, easily a five-star experience. The patio and exterior, however, have lost some of their appeal since our last visit and could use some upkeep. While we enjoyed the view from the patio, we were bothered by a lot of yellow jackets (like everywhere this time of year), which made it a bit uncomfortable. We split an order of chicken fingers, which were fine but not homemade, and the fries were a letdown. We were expecting fresh-cut fries as the menu stated, but they were the seasoned variety that many places are switching to. Beautiful view! The reason I give two stars is because of the quality of the food. Hardly any freshness to anything. I didn’t get a picture of the tased but they tasted canned. I had a hard time finishing the food because the texture, flavor and freshness was just not worth it. Prices were also high!! The outside sitting area definitely needs to be cleaned and freshened up. Tons of cobwebs and kind of dirty and run down feeling. Again the view was beautiful though!!

We stopped in on our way back from a weekend getaway, the weather was perfect for outdoor seating and the views of the lake were perfect for a light lunch. Service was good, as they were busy but managed to keep up and the food was good for the price. Would recommend if your in the area, this is one of a few that have nice water views!

Food was decent but very pricey. I had the broiled cajun fish. It was seasoned nicely. BF had the ribeye. We went there expecting the prime rib dinner listed on the website but they don't serve it. Tables has no salt/ pepper or steak sauce. Asked for lemon, never got it. While the space is large we were sitting on top of the people next to us and another couple that came in were arms length from us rest of room empty. More attention paid to bar than restaurant patrons. Go if you have no other choice.

Our 1st time going to this restaurant. We really enjoyed it. The scenic view of the lake was very nice, definitely would be prettier in the warm weather outside on the deck. We shared the Cheese grits with shrimp and the beef on weck egg rolls. The Shrimp and grits were delicious but you gotta try those egg rolls if you want something different and delicious!😋 We'll be back when it's warner weather.
