This place has been my favorite sub place for years. They are AMAZING. I've tried some of the other popular sub places around the Baltimore area, but nothing compares to The Real Thing. I always get the same exact sandwich — just the meat and (provolone) cheese with the hot sauce. They make their own hot sauce, and it's incredible. Wish they'd sell bottles of it. Generous amount of food for the price. The owners are incredibly friendly and always funny. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Best Cheesesteak in Baltimore (even though this is technically Towson). There’s a rich flavor profile to these; not just bread, cheese and meat. Not to mention the staff here is extremely kind and personable. They make every visit feel like a scene from a TV show lol. Philly you got competition!

SCAMMERS BEWARE!! First, I want to say that I am not one to write reviews. I have been going to the real thing for about 10 years by now- for a while I have sworn up and down that they are the best cheesesteaks in the Baltimore area, and been quick to recommend this place to anyone. However, the service that I experienced on 12/26 was completely appalling. I called in an order for a cheesesteak with onions and bell peppers. The man who took my order asked to confirm that I wanted green peppers, to which I said “yes, I want bell peppers”. First red flag? $17 for the sub. Prices have gone out of control, yet portions have gotten smaller. 2nd red flag? States cash only, but can and has taken card payments as recently as a month ago… interestingly enough?
