We made a trip during a long layover from the Newark airport. Food was amazing and the service was awesome. The owner was so friendly and you could tell how passionate he was about his food. We had the sausage/meatball platter, a prosciutto sandwich with fresh mozzarella, focaccia bread and some cannolis. Some of the best and most authentic Italian food I’ve ever had. Have thought about the food regularly since we went. Can’t recommend enough.
My fiancé and I finally tried the Sicilian Guy after always passing it on Newark and OMG the food is unreal! We got the cold chicken cutlet sandwich for lunch and then the stuffed peppers and lasagne for dinner. Everything was incredible and the sauce had so much flavor! We ended up going back a couple days later to try their hot sandwiches, splitting the meatball parm and sausage and peppers. Again, everything was absolutely incredible! The owner was so kind and let us try some of the ziti he just made. We will definitely be back to try the kick ass soup 😄
the food was divine and the service was top notch. I called ahead to see if they had space for us and they were so accommodating. I got the half chicken and half meatball sandwich and a sicilian pistachio cannoli. 10/10 recommend
Wife and I decided to swing in as she was craving a sandwich. Transparently, we’ve never been very drawn to the place, but that’s changed. Walking in, the place smells great. We grabbed an eggplant sandwich and it was fantastic. Soft homemade bread coupled with excellent sauce and tender eggplant. We don’t feel heavy afterwards and will def be back soon.
It pains me to leave this review, because their service was so good, but I just got a chicken parm sandwich and the breading was so soggy. It was so wet I couldn’t finish the sandwich because the texture was throwing me off, the breading so wet it had congealed into jacket of sorts on the chicken. I don’t know how long that cutlet was sitting there, but it was not fresh. An $17 sandwich should be filled with crispy cutlets and not a soggy messy. I also got the soup with the bread, which was very good and saved this meal. I cannot excuse a sad, sorry cutlet sandwich when Jersey City is bursting with great Italian spots so I don’t think I’ll be returning.
