The Tavern on South Shore

We went tonight after winning their Valentines Day contest. We have never actually come and eaten at the tavern before so we were very excited. We got a baby sitter and everything. When we arrived we didn’t know to find a seat but G the bar manager told us to sit anywhere. From there everything was perfect. The drinks were terrific to start. Then the dry rub on the traditional wings was so good. Well seasoned with a sweet note. I also tried the spicy sauce they had on the side. It was definitely spicy but super good. The fries were amazing. My wife ordered the steak and besides it needing to get cooked a little longer it was really good. I ordered the fire roasted shrimp linguine. The shrimp was so juicy and well cooked and I loved the sauce. Now the best part was the mini doughnuts! They

This place deserves five stars. We went in on a Friday evening while there were events at the performing arts center right next store. We got seated and ordered all within five minutes. Server was great, food too. Loved the ranch salad dressing and the rest of it meal was great. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend.

Unfortunately I cannot rate the food because we ended up leaving the restaurant even before we got a table. I’m not sure who decided that seat yourself on a fully packed night before a Beaver hockey game, manager on duty was G but whoever it was, I would reconsider. Talking to other patrons waiting, they had to fight for a table and even had a table taken from them because of this seat yourself decision. Would’ve loved to experience this restaurant before a game but would definitely not recommend.

Restaurant had no process for customers on hockey night. Seat yourself. Walked through and found nothing. Not greeted by any employees. Stood around for 5-10 min. According to the sign, the manager on duty was “G”. This was not our first time visiting Tavern, but we were disappointed in this experience and ended up going elsewhere.

I ate here four times while I was in town and enjoyed each time I was there. The food was good and the atmosphere was great. My only negative was that they are open until 1:00am but the kitchen closes at 10:00. Twice I was there after 10 and would have ordered food but could not.
