I’m truly heartbroken. After 45 wonderful years, my all-time favorite Mexican restaurant — a true family treasure — will be closing its doors for good on January 31st, 2026. If you’ve never been, please consider stopping by before the end of the month. Their fish dishes are absolutely incredible, and you’ll understand why this place has meant so much to so many people for so long. I only wish the owner’s family could find a way to carry on the legacy. It’s the end of an era, and it really hurts.
I will start by saying I'm from the West Coast. I haven't found any mexican food since moving here up to par with what I can get back home. I decided to try Tia Queta for dinner on a Friday night. It was fairly busy, but the service was still good. The staff was very nice and professional. I ordered the guacamole and the tacos requetas (two beef and one chicken) that came with refried beans and rice. The guacamole was good, $10 good, maybe not. The chicken tasted like it was canned, I'm not sure if it was or not. The beef was decent, definitely better than the chicken. Both the chicken and beef lacked flavor. The refried beans had a bit more flavor, but I prefer frijoles. Would I return, probably not.
The interior decoration is amazing, creating an exotic and lovely dining experience. The waiters were super helpful. We were a bit overwhelmed by the menu, and told him what we’re looking for. All the recommendations we got are amazing! Absolutely love the Mole Bueno - the special Mexican sauce is just yummy! Also love their salsa sauce that goes with the chips - we prob have way too much chips than we should. Caramelized bananas are a very nice touch to end the meal.
Excellent service. I ate puerco yucateco. Not so spicy, good to try, if you like pork and spices on your dish. It was richly flavored. What could have helped was pickle onion.
Best. Frozen. Margaritas. Ever. Even the amount of salt they put on the rim is perfect. The chips quality varies on how fresh they were made but the salsa hits every time. My fiancé and I have tried almost all of the enchiladas they offer, and they’re all very good. The refried beans are refried beans. The service is top notch even though there’s mainly just one guy on the floor.
