Excellent food with affordable price and generous portion! It’s really rare these days to find such a place that has such a perfect combo. We ordered pork soup dumpling, braised beef noodle soup, aozao noodle soup, and eight treasures rice pudding, all of them were really nice. Missed the ginger slices for the pork dumplings but not a big deal. The broth of the aozao was rich and not fishy at all, better than the beef broth. The noodle was very smooth and silky. The broth was clear and very pleasing and comforting to the eye. The fish in the aozao was really yum. Well marinated and loved the texture. Lots of bones tho. Rice pudding dessert was ample and not too sweet. Service was alright. Accommodating and quick. But don’t expect warm, which we didn’t mind. Clean place with not too loud mu
If you’re in Midtown and craving real comfort food, I’d definitely recommend Tipsy Shanghai. It’s cozy, flavorful, and feels a little special without being over the top. Perfect spot when you want dishes that are soothing but still memorable. What we ordered: • Steamed crab & pork soup dumpling (my favorite) • Golden black phoenix bun (one of my other favorites!) • Braised beef noodle soup • Famous lionhead • Fried green beans with minced pork • Mapo tofu
At 10:30pm we wanted to enjoy one last meal before leaving NYC the next day. We Uber-ed Fried Vegetable Dumplings, Hot & Sour Soup, White Rice and Wuxi Pork Ribs. This rounded out our meals during our NYC trip. The ribs were fall off the bone delicious. Hot & Sour soup was the right amount of spice heat flavor. Dumplings were very nice and the char on one side was perfectly filled. What we ordered was too much for just two people. Would definitely revisit.
The soy sauce and peanut noodles were delicious. They were so kind to serve us a complimentary ice cream scoop as well! We will for sure come back
Nice to taste a bit of my childhood flavors here in NYC! My family is from Shanghai, and I currently live in SF. I know it’s rare to find Shanghainese specialties in the US. So it was a delight to discover this place right in the middle of manhattan, a block from where I’m staying!
