Customer Reviews
I was surprised Torreyana had so many 3-star reviews because the menu and location looked great online. After dining here on Friday, 9/12, I understand why. Our party of three arrived at 6pm and were seated outdoors for a beautiful sunset. Service from our server was attentive, drinks, water, and appetizers came smoothly. Mussels were small but tasty, poke chips were enjoyable, and the truffle fries were good though the cheese hardened quickly. By 7:15pm, as it got cold, we asked to move indoors. The hostess promptly accommodated us with a new table. Our fourth guest finally arrived at 7:35pm, and we placed our entrée order: 2 NY steaks (medium rare) and one roasted chicken. By 8:45pm, over an hour later, we still had no entrées. When we asked, the manager, not our server, approached us. I
We were here for 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners to spend our dining credits during our stay. At dinner time we had to wait an hour to get seated, another 50 minutes to have our food served, and it turned out to be burnt and/or salty... how miserable it was. Breakfast was also mediocre. There hot breakfast buffet was ridiculously priced at $36 - way above the $15 breakfast credit. We didn't try it in the end as the items were not much better than the free breakfast at budget hotels. I don't recommend dining at here at all. Hilton La Jolla is beautiful but its restaurant was so bad that we might not consider stay at the hotel again.
California laid back vibe Did not get a chance to stay for food etc but looks great!
Very nice waiter, ordered food and was informed it would be 20 minutes for apricot Chipotle glazed chicken. Kitchen was slow on Christmas day dinner so it took close to an hour but chicken was very good, worth the wait. We just relaxed and enjoyed conversation amongst ourselves with delay. Fair prices, good portion and presentation was so nice. Tortilla soup was very different and stood out well.
Our November 2024 stay at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines included daily breakfast credit at Torreyana. First day we had the full breakfast buffet ($36) that included eggs cooked to order, sausage and bacon, scrambled eggs, frittata, mini Belgian waffles, cheese, hot oatmeal, fresh fruits, yogurt, pastries, and breakfast breads, juices and Starbucks coffee, . Our second day we opted for the more limited continental breakfast buffet (fruit, oatmeal, yogurt, pastries and breads, coffee for $15). Both presentations were ample and nicely displayed. Friendly and helpful wait staff both days. Outdoor terrace seating permitted us to breakfast with our Dog. We enjoyed our both visits at Torreyana.
