Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood and Crab

We dined at 4p. Arrived 15mins early and found street parking right outside the restaurant. Valet is $27. Friendly and attentive staff and servers. Avi(our waiter) was excellent. They did have a gluten-free menu, an extensive wine menu, a pre fixe menu, and a regular menu that lit up (we thought was cool). We ordered crab cake, NY strip with veggies, claw cluster(cold dish on ice), Rockfish with creole sauce, shrimp, and crawfish(spicy), and dessert. Everything was great and good size portions. I got the Nutcracker rum punch which was ok. The bathrooms are upstairs (only negative) but they do have an elevator. Upstairs view is beautiful. Would probably dine up there next time we visit. Outstanding Service experience from the moment of entry until departure. Upon arrival the host wished my daughter a Happy Birthday to the year (from her notes, no bday props-crowns, sash), the table was set with a birthday card for my daughter. Staff very engaged. Food was just okay. We forced fed ourselves and asked for sauce for one of the entrees as it was not very good. Dessert was very good. Drinks were good w/ Mocktail options. We boxed and left w/ most of our food. Salmon barely touched, 10oz/16oz of the steak, half crab cake and small portion of mashed potatoes all to doctor up later. The ticket was nearly $300USD for 2 (mother/daughter-minor) not abnormal for great food. This was not great food. The cost forced me to at least box the meal to take. Truluck’s Ocean’s Restaurant in Washington DC delivers a wonderful dining experience. The food was amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Every dish tasted excellent. The atmosphere is nice, elegant, and comfortable, making it a great place for a special night out. Service was outstanding and truly elevated the experience. Prices were higher than expected, but the quality of the food and the level of service help justify it. Overall, a fantastic restaurant and definitely worth visiting.

Fine dining as it's best. Great food, and excellent service!!! Staff was on point. Ambiance is great. Our group enjoyed the extra touches such as the menu lighting up when you open it to read it since it's dim warm lighting in there. Oysters, snow crab, caesar salad, fish, mushrooms, cauliflower rice and the freshly made bread roll were delicious. Delicious Ohhhhh and the carrot cake was just Devine. Wow! The best ever carrot cake I have tasted. Music playing in background was lovely too. I have been to San Diego's restaurant and the quality matches up with DC. Well done.

Service was good but the 3 stars from Food was warranted due to hard crab fried rice 😑 and it was warm temperature too! If you can carry out food that's suppose to be hot with your bare hands and still serve it...there's an issue!! At the price point that you charge for plenty of rice and a little bit of crab...that's an easy fix!! That's why 5 stars wasn't there! The table setup and live music was great 👍🏾 We'll come back but no time soon.
