The fish and bbq were on point but the Mac and cheese was made with very little cheap cheese and was dry the greens were definitely canned as well aa the yams which were definitely Bruce’s canned yams…. Authentic to me means homemade not anything from a can…I would get the meat but in the future stay away from the side because I can spruce up my own canned goods

This place is the best soul food I’ve ever had. Very welcoming atmosphere where you feel like family as soon as you step in. The cooking was unlike anything else I’ve had, it was undeniably delicious. I recommend the jerk chicken with the bbq sauce, the mac n cheese, and the grabbage! I will definitely be visiting this in Philly more often!!

Mom and pop restaurants ARE THE BACK BONE OF AMERICA ESPECIALLY BLACK ONES LIKE HERS!! food was bussin the fried fish and potato salad was hitting the spot! I definitely need this without knowing i need it. Ill be back for sure and try things on the menu

Yo! This place is REALLY GOOD, I’ve tried just about every popular soul food spot in Philly and none of them have anything on Tyemeka’s! The barbecue chicken wings were falling off the bone chile! Mac and cheese was perfectly seasoned it tasted just like the Mac at the cookouts growing up yams were perfect not too sweet and the customer service was on point, I told the lady at the front it was my first time here and she said “And it won’t be your last!” Boy was she right, I’m going back tomorrow LOL! 10/10 highly recommend.

Have you ever walked inside of a restaurant, and you could tell that the food is amazing just by the vibe? I knew it was going to be good, I didn't expect it to be OUTSTANDING! I am impressed! In addition to the food in the photo, I also got lima beans and rice for my mom. I can't wait to support this business again!
