Udatsu Sushi was a great spot to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday. When we went, it was just the two of us in the restaurant, which we actually loved. If you’re someone who prefers a quiet, intimate meal and doesn’t want to make small talk with strangers while eating, this place is perfect. The food and service were both excellent. Everything was very well executed, and the smoked fatty tuna was a standout — rich, smoky, and incredibly flavorful. Calm, refined, and a really enjoyable omakase experience.
Excellent omakase that would rival those at twice the price. The actual omakase experience started about 30 minutes after the reservation time, so... Patience. Valet parking is available, which is always great to have when you spend 2+ hours for dinner in the LA area. I wish they can bring back the ginger they had about a year ago. That was some darn good ginger
This was a very nice omakase albeit expensive experience. 17+ courses of creative fresh sushi. A few things to be aware of: when you reserve you get automatically charged a 20% service charge. At checkout they hope you forgot that. Also they have a cocktail hour 30 mins before the reservation. They make it sound like it’s included in the price. It’s not. And it’s only pay as you go in their downstairs lounge. It lead to confusion. It’s quite hard to find. The only markings on the door was the lounge name Rokoshu which we didn’t know. Because it was windy they locked the door so it was a confusing entry. They have a nice selection of Japanese spirits. Apparently the Michelin chef Udatsu comes here a few times a year to chef. That might be the best time to visit.
If you’re in LA and looking for a next-level omakase experience, Udatsu Sushi is a must. Tucked away in a sleek, intimate setting, this spot delivers craftsmanship, flavor, and service in perfect harmony. The chef's attention to detail is unmatched—every piece felt like a personal story told through sushi. But the absolute showstopper? The Double Uni Nigiri. Creamy, briny, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It’s the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes and just feel happiness. From start to finish, every course was artful and fresh, with pacing and presentation that kept us excited for the next surprise. Service was warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable without being overbearing. Yes, it’s a splurge—but worth every penny. This is sushi that reminds you why omakase is an experienc
Having dined at countless sushi establishments across the city, I can confidently say that Udatsu Sushi stands in a league of its own. This intimate 8-seat omakase experience feels like being transported directly to a backstreet in Tokyo's Ginza district. From the moment you step inside, Chef Shingo Ogane's meticulous attention to detail is evident. The sleek concrete counter, perfectly illuminated to showcase each dish, provides a contemporary backdrop that lets the food take center stage. The progression of courses demonstrates an innate understanding of flavor building – starting with lighter, delicate cuts before moving into richer, more complex offerings. The rice is a revelation – perfectly body-temperature warm, seasoned with a precision that allows each grain to remain distinct whi
