UMI japanese cuisine

Thanks to the other Google reviewers I took a chance on this place for a friend’s birthday lunch and it was amazing. The service was quick, our server was friendly and knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The sushi was delicious and fresh, the egg drop soup was light and yummy and the hibachi portions are fantastic. I didn’t want to stop eating. The restaurant was really quaint and not crowded at all. The takeout however was popping off and people were always in and out quickly. No one I saw waited more than 5 or 10 minutes for an order. This is definitely the best sushi in Chester, might even be the best Japanese food in SC.

If you are looking for decent Asian food in Chester, this is a good option. They don’t have an online order system which is annoying, let’s be honest. You have to call and talk to someone with broken English, online would take this away and provide a great experience for the customer. But my food was on time, decent and affordable.

Only two tables, so plan to take your food and go. The service was quick. I ordered, went to the restroom, returned and answered a text message and my food was ready to go.

I really wish this place would bring back its dining in section because I miss that. They have two tables (and the main dining room section is blocked off because they have boxes and stuff back there) and I’ve actually never been there and both tables be taken because we always eat inside, so that’s good. The other Asian places in Chester don’t have any seating anymore so it would be really nice if this one would offer seating to everyone again. The people that work here are really nice and they have the best sweet tea (really sweet, the way I like it anyways). They have some good sushi, but their chicken and rice bowls aren’t my favorite. However, my nine-year-old very much disagrees and likes Umi better than all the other places I’ve taken him. I wish they had sweet carrots and onions a

Pleasantly surprised. We just moved to the area and love sushi but didn't expect there to be anything decent in Chester. Had to try this place out because of the great ratings! Food came fast and sushi was refreshing!
