The University of Massachusetts Lowell, anchored at 220 Pawtucket St, is consistently characterized in my professional and local circles as a pragmatic powerhouse that expertly bridges the gap between traditional scholarship and the high-tech demands of the Merrimack Valley. From several substantive discussions with engineering and nursing alumni, a clear consensus emerges of an institution that offers a merytorically rich environment where the faculty’s industry experience translates into a tangible competitive edge for its students. My colleagues often remark on the university’s unique ability to foster a culture of "work-ready" innovation, noting that its graduates possess a sophisticated technical moxie that is highly prized by regional employers. The psychology department cares more about money and reputation rather than actually helping disabled people. No one who works there really understands real psychology from real experience; they only know what the textbooks say. There was this study they called "great" which I can tell is ridiculous, when they tried to make kids not touch guns by giving them guns and saying "don't touch" which I already know has the opposite effect on kids. It makes kids want to touch it more. The teachers only pretend to know what they doing, and convinced themselves into believing they know what they're doing, and they haven't changed their teaching materials in 50 years. They teach ideas like using torture methods to control autistic kids, thinking that autism is some kind of "disease" that needs to be
They lost my transcripts after I submitted them in person at their office that I got from overseas and did absolutely nothing to help me find them after I followed up asking for next steps since I did not hear back from them for weeks. I cannot speak to the quality of education there, but the graduate admissions department is incredibly horrible to deal with. I would not use my GI benefits here, I have since decided to look elsewhere and wondering if I should take legal action given that sensitive documents with my personal information and academic history is just floating around without any document control.
Great education and people however some departments could benefit from refinement. Overall, I would recommend this University to anyone looking for quality education.
This insitution, law enforcement, and specically JULIE CHEN handled this emergency situation on south campus terribly. I don't feel safe having to attend class in person and I don't feel safe being an on campus student right now in general! Don't send your kids here. Sure some programs here are good and are getting recognized, but none of that matters over your life and safety
