Van Leeuwen Ice Cream

Visited here after lunch for something sweet. This spot is located inside 2nd & PCH on the first floor. Parking: There's a parking structure with free 90 minute parking. There's free street parking, but it's difficult to find. There's also a free parking lot across the street. Finding a spot in the lot can be a hit or miss. Ambiance/Environment: They have a small space with very few indoor seating. The tables are located in the back of the store. All the ice cream flavors are organized and labeled. Service: The worker was simply nice and efficient. They allow you to sample any ice cream flavor. The worker that assisted us was knowledgable about the flavors and recommended us her favorites. I’ve been on a hunt for the sweet treat spots since relocating to Long Beach, and this spot was recommended to me countless times. First of all, it’s the cutest color scheme and overall vibe inside the shop. There’s even a fun sitting area that surrounds the ice cream bar! Next, the flavor and texture was on POINT. I’m a huge Mint & Chip supporter, and can sometimes be a bit hypercritical of the flavor. However, I knew as soon as I sampled this round of Mint & Chip, that I found a winner. My sister and I took the time to enjoy the outside sitting area attached. Parking has to be on-site or in the structure, but I believe the first hour is free and/or can be validated.

7.95 for the most ridiculously tiny scoop of ice cream I've seen in my life and it's just ok. Very mid. There is nothing that special about it and the price is absurd. I hate companies that gouge customers because their decor is cute. I left feeling ripped off. I spoke to locals I know and they feel the same. Did the owners friends and family write all the great reviews? Total rip off.

Always love Van Leeuwee! This is my favorite ice cream shop in LA and I always go for honeycomb. Been to Long Beach, Century City, & Arts District and they’re always my favorite brand of icecream shops :) 🍦 The workers are also friendly (the girl at the register in this pic)! However I would hope, with this recommendation, that they lessen the sugar a bit. It’s kind of too sweet so I think honey comb and other flavors could be a bit less sweet

Very disappointed in the honeycomb ice cream . We only came here for that flavor. It’s more vanilla ice cream. With maybe tiny hints of honey if you’re lucky. The to other flavors are okay after we tried some Samples. I do appreciate that they have a lot of vegan options. Just need actual honeycombs in the honeycomb ice cream :/
