Velvet Taco

I love the way that velvet taco brings different type types of foods together… whether it’s shrimp and grits tacos, or my favorite chicken tikka masala tacos… the flavor is always fantastic. I tried the steak chimichurri tacos today and wow, lots of flavor and really tender steak. I also tried the curry queso with chips today and it was delicious! Next time I’m coming for these tacos and a couple of margaritas!

I would give this place like 4.75 stars. The service was great- person working there was very kind (girl with curly hair and septum piercing) and the food came out fast. I ordered a Nashville Hot Tofu which I LOVEDD! The tofu was fried amazingly and the spices were incredible. The sauce was also very good. I also got the Crisp Tots and Sunny Egg. I liked it but I liked the flavors in the taco more but I think that’s just personal preference. The only thing I would’ve changed was that I felt the music was WAY too loud, which I always dislike at restaurants. I think this place should be more popular! At least as popular as taco deli.

Finally, after many months of planning, We visited the Velvet Taco on Burnet. We were absolutely delighted to meet a familiar, cheerful, friendly face! Claudia! The new location on Burnet is awesome and it has a very vibrant atmosphere. There were Lots of families enjoying tacos, indoors and al fresco! We used to see Claudia all the time at the Domain location. We were delighted to see her again. She instantly greeted us and punched in our order. We were happy to know that she’s the manager at this new location. We could tell from her being very busy, working hard, being hands-on with preparing all the orders as they came in and extending warm hospitality to all the guests! I tried Velvet Taco for the first time about 8 weeks ago here at the Burnett location. Tacos are magical. The cauliflower taco is a must must try. But more importantly, the staff here is so nice. They make great suggestions. They do it with enthusiasm. Julia was so helpful in talking about tacos last time I was here and Jared, the general manager runs a clean store and he is just the essence of hospitality. I'm very impressed. And as a former GM of a restaurant My standards are high.

I had such an amazing experience at Velvet Taco! I was flying out and wanted to bring tacos for my family, but I had a pretty unique request. I asked if they could pack everything separately so the tacos wouldn’t get soggy by the time I landed. Not only did they happily accommodate, but they carefully packed all the ingredients separately so we could reheat everything and assemble fresh tacos at home. On top of that, they even went above and beyond to check TSA liquid limits and packed the sauces according to what’s allowed per container. That level of thoughtfulness and customer service is rare. Truly above and beyond! Thank you for making it possible to bring a little Velvet Taco love on my trip. 🌮✈️
