Victoria's Hong Kong Cafe & Tea has an open kitchen, clean decor of wooden planks (?) and good service. We have: ~ Bell pepper with beef ~ Rice plate w/ pork & steamed chicken leg A huge portion, from wine to food. I’m dying for the boxed Cantonese BBQ lunch盒饭, for dinner this time. I jokingly call it the most popular peasant's lunch. Victoria's: cha sui 叉烧 is very lean the steamed chicken leg 白切鸡 bone in is likely from the freezer: the massive portion of ginger and scallion on top is the best part. It comes with fried rice; white rice is extra - a little unconventional. the four florets of broccoli are firm & fresh I added extra sausage 腊肠, which isn’t Cantonese, more like Taiwanese, fat and sweet They offer us a booth that is equipped with a call button. A plate of fried peanuts is
This was an amazing gem!! Definitely underrated,, the atmosphere and decoration was awesome and very nice and the staff were superb and welcoming. The food was also incredibly delicious (with big portions) and there was hardly any wait!! Definitely worth it and would go again
Real Chinese food in Sarasota If your favorite Chinese restaurant has faded plastic sign showing chow mein and chop Suey this restaurant will either be a disappointment or enlightenment. We had company coming over and ordered multiple dishes. What you see in the picture is two orders of spring/egg rolls. The squid with black bean sauce was excellent. Each dish had a distinct flavor and was carefully made. The pork with mustard greens was excellent. It is a very “Chinese“ taste, but you probably would not order it if that wasn’t your style. The Chow fun was well prepared, and the noodles were not soggy, which is a common criticism of many restaurants. The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, and the booths had curtains in front of them (see pictures)), which added an air of privacy
Newly opened restaurant, drove by a few times before stopping in for dinner. I was not disappointed and will be going back. The food reminded me of my time in Hong Kong. They maintained the button system so you press the button for help/ to order. They have individual almost private booths and also open seating plan. So good for a date night of a group event. For food we got the Singapore rice noodles, HK wonton soup, and the fried pork ribs w. Tangerine peel. The Singapore noodles had a good ratio of ingredients and the curry flavor was balnce not super oily. The HK wonton soup was also tasty. The filling with consistent and genius with the wrappers not being too thick. The soup base was good not the best I've had. The fried ribs was an item I hadn't tried before. The texture was spot on.
What a cozy atmosphere! I went for the small plates and simplicity: braised beef, wonton soup, and some pickled radish and WOW- each dish was distinct, flavorful, and paired well with each other. I enjoyed everything to the last bite- more people need to experience this !
