Virginia River Cottages LC

We had the chance to stay in the main house of the Virginia River Cottages and it was amazing. From the moment you turn into the drive you start feeling the stress slip away. Everything was first rate, clean and comfortable. The home was decorated in a way that you could spend lots of time wandering about and looking. It seemed like any and all details were taken care of. A full kitchen is there to support you if you wanted to cook. There was also a washer and dryer in the premises should you need them. The view was also spectacular and especially during sunsets. There is pier you can walk out and watch the fish or you can just sit back and enjoy the view and serenity. This is a great place for a relaxing weekend or week at the river. We started visiting about 3 years ago. We have friends' who live nearby and have a yearly get together. My husband and daughter fish off the pier and we love the peacocks that reside there and the sunsets. Suzanne makes sure you are well taken care of and are welcome to the area with recommendations of places to eat and things to do. Because of the above reasons we have started visiting more than once a year. During the latest visit in early December, my husband caught a large striper and my daughter and I visited Haven Beach.

Amazing !!! We stayed a week and can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was. The owner thought of everything and made us feel so welcome. The waterfront view was beautiful. Quiet & relaxing with a comfortable bed. We didn’t want to leave.

We had a very relaxing and enjoyable weekend, what a great location and beautiful gardens. The cottage was very comfortable and beautifully furnished and the kitchen had everything you need. The fridge had crumpets, butter, milk and cream and orange juice and there was a selection of fresh fruit. The only small problem was the bathroom is very small for me at 6"4" and the heater, which is in the center of the cottage does make quite a noise when it comes on in the middle of the night. Having said that we shall probably be back as we had a great time.

Suzanne is a great host. Peaceful, incredible views of the Piankatank, "Old Buck" the Peacock and comrade Peahen patrol the property. Short drive to great restaurants like Lulu Birds, Chesapeake at Tides Inn and White Dog Bistro. We will be back soon.
