Volare Italian Restaurant

Cute small business Italian restaurant. My wife and I pass Volare nearly daily but never stopped by. Yesterday, we finally decided to give it a shot and we were impressed. The ambiance very much felt like home. It has a comfortable vibe, is not too big, and generally the people there are chatty and enjoying each other's company. The food was good! My wife and I thought prices were fair, portions were generous, and service was okay. I'd say the only downside is that the staff seemed to be in a rush. I'm not sure if they were short staffed but it felt like they were rushing away and that they were trying to get us out as quickly as possible. Overall, we very much enjoyed our meal and thought the prices were great for the portion sizes. We will be coming back for sure.

We got the veal entree and the salmon Mediterraneaneo and it came with a side salad or soup. We tried one of each and both were very good. The salmon and veggies were so good especially the veggies, and the salmon wasn't over cooked. The veal was great as well as the sauce but the spaghetti was store bought tasting which isn't the end of the world but worth noting that they weren't special tasting. The bread basket brought to our table was a disappointment as it was sesame bread with a little butter melted and that was it and the bread wasn't my favorite. If not complimentary I would have been disappointed to pay for it. The cheesecake and canolis were really good. I asked if the canoli was house made and they said only the filling and the filling was really good. Both were a good portion

HIDDEN (FORGOTTEN) GEM! It is rare to see a true hidden gem. This Italian restaurant has been here since 1978. When the streets were busy with the foot traffic of customers from the Marine base across the street. New recruits and seasoned veterans, as well as their families. Now many years later. The streets widened, barricades in place around the base, many businesses have come and gone. The neighbors are no longer trendy or appealing. Many in disrepair. Nearby parking is not easy to find, what little parking there is is cramped. Inside, a narrow restaurant with the smells of Italian culinary mastery (not an exaggeration). Service was always on time. A great llittle Italian restaurant! I found the food to be equal to the excellent Italian restaurants in Boston and NYC. Four of us all had great meals and the service was also very good. We has gnocchi, eggplant parm, chicken cacciatore and chicken picatta. All were fabulous and the prices are very reasonable! Try the delicious desserts! We highly recommend Volare!

Excellent hidden gem! Pizza was amazing, packed full of toppings and piping hot. It was huge and that wasn't even the biggest one. 4 of shared the special pizza and there were leftovers. Brother in law had the special mushroom ravioli and he raves about it. Cool place, great staff, delicious with fair prices!
