West Hempstead Public Library

Great time last week Sunday afternoon at The Library, watching Live Vinyl’s live music Tribute “Ladies Who Rocked the 80’s! Great Band, Amazing singing!

The librarians at the children’s sections are absolutely horrible. What’s the point of having a children’s section if you won’t let kids be kids . I’m not talking about running around being wild. I’m talking about literally exploring and doing the puzzles peacefully especially the blonde when she comes up to you, hollering at you I asked you three times. Ma’am, if you’re unhappy with your job, don’t take it out on me or my kids. We are there utilizing the library as we pay to do so. It’s just unacceptable. I am a tax paying resident and I don’t need a librarian belittling me or my children.

I visit West Hempstead very often. I live in Palm Beach County FL. My library there is the complete opposite of this library. From the pictures I've posted you can see the attitude that is pervasive at the West Hempstead Library, WHL. My library offers snacks for kids each Friday. They have coolers with ice cream and drinks. They ask each kid as they walk through the door if they have stopped in the children's section for their snack. Local teens volunteer in the library and interact with the kid patrons to help them find books. The WHL, has a culture of meanness. In fact we were told today not to talk. We weren't even speaking loudly. Not very user friendly.

The staff was very friendly. All my concerns were addressed in a timely fashion. The entire experience exceeded my expectations.

i'm going to be very professional here , library is nice. there is huge parking. kids area is very nice. but i wish the staff is more welcoming .. feels like they don't want to be bothered. its kind of disappointing , i went in with my two kids there was three ladies in the kids area. They did not even smile. i don't understand because it wasn't crowded at all. i spoke to three people to ask a question. one of them told me to go to teens section before i even finish what i had to say. its very rude.
