Woodbury Public Library Rushmore Memorial Branch

Amazing library with an excellent children’s section. My son spends Saturday mornings here participating in activities and borrowing books. They also have toy animals to play with which he loves playing with every time we go. Very clean and quiet, staff is kind.

This was my fourth visit to the library, and unfortunately, the experience continues to be disappointing. I’m not sure if the staff are volunteers or employees, but they consistently come across as having a chip on their shoulder. Today, I visited with my kids (ages 5-8), one of whom is on the autism spectrum. His stimming and occasional grunting are normal behaviors for him, but the staff showed no empathy or understanding. Instead, one employee repeatedly checked on us, constantly reminding us to lower our voices and enforcing rules without considering the circumstances. The overall atmosphere felt unwelcoming and overly rigid, especially for a place that should encourage children to learn, explore, and feel comfortable. They are great at getting all books and obscure books. Books, DVD, and CD can be easily renewed.
