I took my partner to Yaya Southern Cuisine last Sunday as he wanted soul food to celebrate his birthday. Neither one of us had been here before but I saw it had very good reviews on Google. We both got the chicken dinner with different sides. He had the Mac and cheese and I had mashed potatoes since they were out of candied yams. We also both had yellow rice and collard greens. We also shared honey cornbread and hush puppies. Everything was VERY good!! There were a few downsides. We came on a Sunday evening and most of the food was sold out. The women who took our order said Sundays are also busy so we notated that for next time. The wait time is very long since the staff is limited. Yaya Restaurant is hands down one of our absolute favorites! The customer service is always amazing, the food is incredible, and the atmosphere makes you feel right at home. My son and I visit at least twice a month. We love going on Saturdays, grabbing a great meal, watching a movie, and just relaxing. It honestly reminds me of my mama’s cooking. The fried fish and grits? The BEST. (Yes, I call ahead to make sure they have grits before making the long commute 😂.) My son loves the oxtails — they are always tender and full of flavor. My husband’s favorites are the fried chicken and ribs. And the sides? Every single one is delicious. The mac and cheese has that perfect “grandma-style” cheese pull. 1st time visit it was a awesome experience. Ya Ya daughter who took our order she was patience and very helpful with answering the question about the menu very well and professional. Had the oxtail dinner and the turkey wing dinner everything cooked to perfection dessert was banana pudding and strawberry shortcake.. Just like sitting at grandma table after church. Please don't change anything. Keep the recipes the same.. after eating that great dinner and dessert (I need a nap) moneys worth.A Awesome place to visit for great soul food. The food is delicious and flavorful. I had the dinner special (yellow rice and 2 chicken pieces). This was my 1st time tasting their food and as a Caribbean woman I was impressed with the flavor and tenderness of the chicken and the rice. I highly recommend trying them out. When you do, ENJOY!!😊

If you’re craving some good ole soul food, I’ll recommend this place. The staff were so nice,friendly and very helpful and the food was good. The only downside was that they had run out of most items, so I ended up with just collard greens and cabbage. The cook was nice enough to give me a little bit of Mac and cheese, It wasn’t much she gave me what was left. The fish was cooked very well The collard greens and cabbage were also seasoned well. The Mac and cheese was my least favorite. Overall I give them a 4/5 only because they didn’t have much of anything. I went around 8:30pm so be mindful and go early, because they do sell out fast!
