Athens Tavern

Authentic Greek food. Same flavor as the food in Greece. Managed by Greeks. One of the things that impacted me the most of Greece in my visits to that country was their cuisine. At a point that even out of Greece when I'm in big cities, I try to find Greek restaurants sometimes. This one did not disappoint!

Can’t comment on the service or atmosphere because I only had it when it was part of a catered event but the food was INCREDIBLE. The pastitsio was better than my father’s, and that says a lot… I ate my weight in that alone. I liked it so much I’ve been trying to find out who the caterer was since before Christmas.

Came here for a lil appetizer dinner! The food was delicious and our waitress was delightful. One piece of the octopus came out a little tough but the kitchen made sure to make it right. Do try the fried smelts! They were delicious and the sauce that comes with them is wonderfully garlicky. Authentic Greek food, pretty sure the place is run by Greeks. There's lots of pretty decorations to look at inside the restaurant, too. Warning: don't sit right at the front door as it often doesn't close all the way as people go in and out and so there is a draft.

The staff are incredibly attentive, friendly, and genuinely invested in ensuring your visit is enjoyable. Whether it's prompt seating, knowledgeable recommendations, or simply a warm smile, the service contributes significantly to the overall wonderful feeling of the place. The chicken kabobs were cooked to perfection. The chicken is incredibly tender, flavorful, and grilled to perfection.

The restaurant was very cozy. The food was delicious and well flavored to perfection. Our waitress was on point. We'll be back soon. I wish Fredericksburg had authentic restaurant like Athens tavern. Happy holidays to your family from our family. ❤️
