Black Walnut Bed and Breakfast

We recently stayed for two nights at the Black Walnut and had a great experience! The room was comfortable and very clean. The breakfasts were delicious. The host, Jen, was incredibly welcoming and helpful, offering recommendations for local attractions and restaurants. Jen was also very accommodating and thoughtful with my specific dietary needs. It was a wonderful experience all around and we cannot wait to return next year!

Our daughter bought a place close to here and we needed a place to stay while visiting (actually helping with renovations) her. We found the Black Walnut and was pleasantly surprised. We talked to the host Jen before booking it to make sure that we could check in late. We thought we might be as late as 2AM for arrival. She said that she would make it work for us. Luckily we arrived at 11 PM, so it was not as late as we thought. While we spoke to her she was very helpful. She asked if either of us had allergies, so she could plan breakfasts to meet our needs. Not sure she was ready for my wife's list of allergies (Gluten, Dairy, Strawberries, Blueberries, Ginger and she is a Pescatarian) but she didn't even flinch. This was my first stay at Black Walnut. It’s an absolute gem if you are looking for an intimate, homey, historic B&B in a great location. Jen, the proprietor, will do anything to make you comfortable. You simply cannot buy a better breakfast anywhere! Locally sourced ingredients are combined for taste and variety. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Rufio, the cat greeter, adds another layer of charm. Lovely garden and sitting room!

Jen is the very best! We felt right at home. Very roomy and the breakfast each morning was delicious. - she was considerate of our dietary restrictions. We loved all the recommendations with the area; where to hike and the best wineries.

This was our 4th visit to the Black Walnut, and once again, Jen was a superb hostess and chef! We always stay in the Owasco Room, with a private bath - it is always immaculately set up, the bed is comfortable, and we really enjoy a good night's sleep there. Jen's breakfasts are the best that we have had at any B & B - deliciously prepared, beautifully presented, and always considerate of our gluten-free dietary needs. Jen (and her cat Rufio) are very welcoming, and we feel very much at home at the Black Walnut. In addition to Jen's great suggestions on wineries to visit and places at which to eat dinner, her sun porch is the perfect place to hang out with our friends for coffee before breakfast in the mornings, and to unwind with our wine at the end of the day.
